The author, born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1941, and living in Canada since 1951, is a retired high school English teacher and Department head in Ottawa, Ontario.

The story of the Stalmach family’s escape from Communism is the first selection in the book; it is followed by twenty relevant stories on various topics ranging from early youth to the present day as requested by extended family and friends. Stalmach hopes the book will give enjoyment as well as instruction into the ways of the world.
